Introduction
I am really good at taking tasks and information that sound complicated on the surface and communicating them in plain English. Sometimes, the way information is worded in, say, an online stats course, isn't as clear as it ought to be. It's fun to help students get things cleared up, especially when the light bulb goes on that says, "Hey, this assignment really is pretty easy!" A very important part of what I do is try to instill confidence in the student. When it comes to statistics and research methods, it's really easy to be nervous before the class even starts. This material really isn't that difficult, and it really is fun once you get it. That's something I love to convey. Enthusiasm is everything. Of course tutoring on Thumbtack isn't my "day job." Normally I do university teaching, both in the classroom and online. But on Thumbtack, I especially love helping people gain a level of understanding that they wouldn't have had without my help. I love translating statistics and research methods into plain English, or helping a student or professional polishing a piece for submission. And I love that this happens with equal effectiveness whether on the computer, the phone, or in person in a classroom.

Candice was a wonderful tutor. I came into the session very nervous and not really knowing very much. Candice has a way of explaining research methods in a way that you understand it easily. She is also very patient, kind, and funny when explaining. When I was having difficulty understanding certain concepts, she was ready and willing to help me no matter how long it took. If I ever need asssitance with research methods and/or statistics in the future, Candice will be the one that I contact.

I had a good experiences with Dr. Candice Bradley. She helped me in my research method class and seminar class. She tries to provide the information/explanation many times in different way until you get it, with high quality work. She is very understandable, responsible, respectful. Glad to know her, and I appreciate all her efforts with me.

Working on my Master's in Professional counseling was a breeze, until I took a Research Methods class. I was lost, confused, stressed, devasted and lossing sleep every night. Then I met Candice, on Thumstack. What a Blessing she is! Her knowledge and patience helped me tremendously throughout the course. She helped me to understand the concepts and methods, while completing six papers and my final research project, over a 6 week spand. Words cannot express how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to work with such an amazing tutor. I learned more from Candice then I did during the course. Simply an amazing experience!

Candice is truly a Godsend! She really helped me relate to concepts in my Research Methods class, ones I thought I would never get! But, I think I'm really starting to get it, thanks to her help. She made herself available to me, even at the last minute when I especially needed her help! Her rates are phenomenal, so tip her if you're able! I'll definitely be using her when i need help with future assignments! Thanks, Candice!

I wish she lived in Maryland. She's very patient and encouraging. She'll take her time with you even if it takes all night. She goes beyond just to make sure you get it.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Most of the work I do is professional editing, usually for faculty, graduate students at dissertation stage, and professionals with research related documents. With a journalism background, however, I can edit most anything.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Perhaps the most important thing a student should know when asking for help with a course on Thumbtack is that a "tutor" is a "teacher." That means I make myself available to help students (usually, grad students) understand a relatively sophisticated subject such as statistics or research methods, so they may go back and complete the work on their own, whether it be an assignment or an exam. The key here is that the student does the work, not me. I think a big misunderstanding some students have when they come to Thumbtack is that they think they're going to hire somebody to ace that grade for them. False. A tutor is a teacher. A tutor is NOT somebody you hire to help you cheat. I try not to bid on cheating jobs. If I get into a job and find out it's an attempt to use me to cheat, I will probably request that I not be paid and attempt to teach the student so they can pass on their own rather than completing the cheat. Half of what I "get" from tutoring is the reward of teaching. There is no "pay" that can compensate for cheating, and being asked to do so is an insult.
