Introduction
Best Home Improvements NW LLC, is a General Contracting Company that specializes in remodeling kitchens & baths, but also does home renovations and repairs. The owners Kevin & Paul met in 2000 at Anderson's Kitchen & Bath Center, where Kevin was working as a remodel installer and Paul did kitchen and bath designing, estimating and sales - they have been working together ever since. Kevin is a "Master Remodeler" who does high quality work from rough-in to finish. He installs cabinets, doors, millwork, tile and drywall, all at journey level standards. He also has high quality finish plumbing and electrical trim out skills. Prior to them meeting, Paul had worked for home builders, owned a remodeling company and had been part owner in a plumbing company. He is also a multi-skilled remodel installer with an expansive knowledge in residential construction, remodeling and repairs. Both Kevin and Paul strive for perfection in their work and have found that providing high quality workmanship and good customer service is a worthy goal with many returns.

Paul has supervised several small to medium projects for us since 1992. These jobs were in the cities of Seattle, Bellevue, and Renton Washington. They ranged in scope from room additions to complete bathroom and kitchen renovations. Paul always stood out from most contractors because of his honesty, clear communication, on-time completion, and bringing the projects within our budget. He thoroughly planned each project, made sure we understood what was being done, and kept us informed of the progress, and problems that arose, throughout the span of the job. As Paul apprised us from the outset, construction goes without any hitches, only in heaven. We were able to be involved in all decisions, including change orders, and schedule or budget adjustments. What minor bumps occurred were dealt with promptly, courteously, and to our eventual satisfaction beyond our expectations. Paul and his very reliable craftsmen/women were professional in appearance, manners, and respectful of our privacy and listened closely to our concerns. We felt very comfortable having them in our home. Without sounding like a white wash job, Paul has obviously learned from the mistakes of other contractors, and made the adjustments that have made his company avoid most problems that arise due to lack of planning and his employees and subcontractors obviously reflect Paul's values of constant, and clear, honest communication between Company personnel and us, the client. We would not hesitate to offer the highest recommendation for Best Home Improvements. Paul leaves a good impression of Home Improvement and Remodeling in our memories.

Paul has done a variety of work on my rentals and on my several personal residences over the past 20 years. He called my number by mistake in 1994, and it turned out I was looking for someone to build me some steps, so it wasn't a wrong number after all--it was a fortunate coincidence. He is skilled in every phase of construction, knows the code, and never takes shortcuts which jeopardize the finished work, be it plumbing, electrical, painting, or remodeling/construction. Paul knows what tools to use and that makes all the difference in time required to do a job and the quality when it is done. Paul has built two storerooms for me, rebuilt a porch, I've seen balconies he has rebuilt, he's installed linoleum in several of my rentals, laid tile, remodeled a kitchen picking out beautiful cabinets, remodeled several bathrooms, put in a jetted tub, repaired water damaged sheetrock, texturing/painting (he's done lots of that for me), repaired a water leak in foundation wall, found where windows were leaking and repaired them, installed dining room fans, redid the ducting and installed bathroom fans where there were none, switched out all the old interior doors for 6-panel doors, installed mirrored sliders, installed vertical blinds and window blinds, opened the stairway wall to facilitate air circulation, squared the exterior storeroom doors so they closed properly, replaced all the exterior locks, replaced the interior door knobs installed recessed lights, hid all the wires in the wall behind the TV, he's a master at making molding look great and fixing the weird spots so they aren't noticeable. The tile around my fireplace I love--it is marble and stainless steel tiles we found at Lowe's--he picked it out. To coordinate, Paul used stainless steel tiles again and burgundy colored glass tiles (from Lowe's again) for the kitchen. It coordinates so well. And that is one thing Paul has--a good eye for decorating ideas. He's replaced toilets, sinks, vanities, you name it. Once he found a pin hole leak in the bathroom wall behind the toilet that no one else had been able to find. I'm rambling here trying to recall all the various projects he has done for me. One thing where Paul has been a great help is acting as a consultant. When I had water in my dining room he was very helpful in filtering what the various contractors told me so that they could not take advantage of my lack of knowledge. He did the same with regard to slab jacking. Once [unnamed plumbing company] gave me a $3500 estimate to replace the pressure relief valve at the water meter, when I told Paul he steered me on the right path--the $600 path. He advised me when I had all the windows replaced in a triplex I owned. He did the same when I got a 40-year roof and new gutters. It is no small task painting a 3-story building and he supervised that too. Five stars aren't enough really. I've seen him manage a crew and I've seen him work alone. I probably left off some of the work Paul has done for me, he's my first choice for anything and everything to do with remodeling and new construction. It is too bad that my name and email are not shown with this recommendation because I would be happy to talk to you about the work Paul has done for me over the years. Since I'm an attorney, I can add, tongue in cheek, that I make this declaration under penalty of perjury under the laws of State of Washington . . .

Paul Taylor has done a variety of home improvements on my properties since 1994; and each project can only be described as outstanding. He is not only knowledgeable regarding code compliance and actual construction techniques, he has a knack for design too. He remodeled 3 of my condos, he helped build two enclosed porches with attached storerooms, he helped me select a roofer and a painter for a 3-story multi-family building I owned, his last remodel was my own home and it is so beautiful I like to stay home just to enjoy it. We picked out glass and stainless tile for the kitchen which coordinates with the marble and stainless tile for the fireplace surround. The counter tops are quartz and the perfect color to correspond with the carpeting and the paint on the walls. He knows all about appliances too. And that reminds me that he put in a jacuzzi tub too. He has decades of experience and I think he owns just about every tool needed in remodeling. His standard of excellence is hard to find, so 5 stars is well deserved.

We hired John and Kevin to take out our old kitchen right down to the subflooring and to put in a new kitchen including cabinets, countertops, ceramic tile floor, tile backsplash, range hood with duct work through ceiling and roof, all new appliances with all the associated plumbing and electrical. John and Kevin are a one-stop shop; they know how to do it all and do it to perfection. The only part of the kitchen that they did not do themselves was to install the quartz countertops. That made life simple for us. Moreover, we counted a lot on their experience and expertise in the design of our kitchen, especially the selection of materials. The result was a much better outcome than we would have had otherwise. What we most appreciated about John and Kevin is that they took the opportunity provided by the kitchen remodel to correct longstanding plumbing and electrical problems in the basement below the kitchen, upstairs above, and in the dining/living room. This saved us money (not having to hire someone else for that additional work) and eliminated the need to break into walls outside one kitchen wall. John and Kevin were very attuned to our desires and made suggestions along the way that allowed the project to proceed smoothly, swiftly and keeping costs down. Overall, great job!
