FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My fee (flat rate 195.00) includes a tuning , plus cleaning and minor adjustments / repairs ( I.e. , sticky keys or squeaky pedals ). Broken strings are discussed at your home, and pricing depends on what part of the piano has the broken strings. Treble strings have different diameters and lengths , and copper-wound bass strings have a fluctuating raw materials price at a given time. Cabinet work is also assessed onsite.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After introductions, I typically ask “what can you tell me about your piano? “ This gives me better insight as to what else may be going on inside the piano that affects the quality of sound , the velocity of the keys speed/ ease of motion , etc, so I can address those issues prior to the tuning itself.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am registered with Master Piano Technicians Guild, and am their Washington state representative. I also occasional work / training at a piano shop in Tacoma to hone my skills (Skelley Piano). I have studied with Don Mannino ( Kawai) and Steve Brady ( Seattle Opera) at their workshops here in the NW, as well as the national Piano Technicians Guild conventions venues
