Here is my piano teaching method in a nutshell. I like to teach through songs. We can essentially tackle any style through my method. The main method is one I developed called the reverse engineering method. I like to show you a few chords and then apply it immediately to a song. When we start, I’ll give you a set of easier material(chords/scales/melodies) on 2-3 songs. Then you can suggest songs you want to learn. There’s a couple staples that I think are necessary for everyone starting off.
Then we come to the next stage. When you get to pick a song. When there’s a song you like, we’ll reverse engineer the song together to show you how it’s constructed. Each and every song has a bass line, chords, and a melody. Just about everything can be taken from that point. e.g. Piano technique, understanding the keyboard, theory, chords, melody, specific chord rhythm on voicing and even melodic harmonization. Don’t let this overwhelm you. We can go as deep into it as you want or don’t want. There’s a base level we need to accomplish of usually chords or partial melody before we can move on.
I teach all styles including, classical, pop, blues and jazz. Please let me know if you have any questions.
I enjoy the work because it's very fulfilling to see my students grow. It's really amazing to see when there was something they couldn't understand but a few weeks later they get it.
