Seichou Karate (sdojo.com) is a martial arts school, and we hired Tiger Home Improvement to build out 1,800 square feet in Annandale as our new dojo. As with any signifigant construction project, there were bumps in the road and many change orders. However, very happily, Tiger and its staff honored their commitment to us by showing up for work faithfully and producing excellent workmanship. The job included full demolition of the space, creation of a large training room with a state-of-the-art sprung floor, two changing rooms, an office, a reception area, a classroom for cultural arts classes, and installing new toilets and sinks in two bathrooms a utility closet and classroom. Tiger finished the project on budget and on time notwithstanding several significant mishaps. In particular, our glass installer improperly hung 40 feet of mirrors requiring their removal and subsequent construction of a subwall. Aware that a significant delay would derail our inspection and reopening schedule, Tiger coordinated with the glass company and built the subwall within 36 hours. Moreover, Tiger followed our explicit instructions for installation of the sprung training floor. Specifically, we instructed Tiger to cut swimming pool noodles into 2 inch donuts and, then, glue them to the bottom of 4 x 8 sheets of plywood, which had to be spaced 0.25” apart. Our students couldn’t be happier with the finished product, and we would hire Tiger again in a heartbeat. However, next time, rather than finding our own HVAC and Glass contractors, we would entrust the entire project to Tiger because when they’re going got tough, they found workable, cost-effective solutions, whereas other contractors left us to resolve problems on our own. For the foregoing reasons, we highly recommend Tiger Home Improvement.
