We had really neglected our yard and garden for years and needed help. I came to Thumbtack to get some ideas on contractors and decided on Smith Landscaping to do the work. I left a message on the app and Nick Smith got back to us immediately. He scheduled an appointment to meet with us and see what he was up against. He was very professional and spent time listening to our thoughts and concerns and took lots of notes. He was honest about the timeframe that he would be able to start the work due to previous commitments. As anxious as we were to get started, we were pleased about his honesty. Meanwhile a few days later we received a professional estimate with renderings of his interpretation of our thoughts. We waited for the day and when it finally came, Nick and his crew arrived a little later than they had hoped but called us to let us know that he had something he needed to complete for another customer. The crew again went over the expectations and went to work immediately. Dead Azaleas, leaves and many other things had to be done first but they got started right away and did not stop, except for lunch, until they finished. I do not have many photos of the “before” because there was not much to photograph and in front of the house was a large hill that we were unable to mow any longer and it was only a bunch of mulch. We will definitely contact Nick Smith for re-seeding some dead spots in the Fall. I only wish I could show more pictures to show “what a difference a day makes”!

Very good customer service but I was not pleased with the final work. Mulch shouldn’t be a mound around trees as it can cause issues. I will have to fix it in my spare time which I shouldn’t have to since I hired someone to do it.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is mid range with highest grade value. We take such pride in the attention to detail and work ethic we hold. So we will not be the cheapest you find, but no one can beat our performance. We do have winter rates of 10% off quotes for any work that may needing done. This rate runs from Dec 15- Feb-15.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Pretty simple, I’ll get all contact info so I can add you into our system. Once that’s done we can go about doing estimates or invoices and keep track of all record that deals with the particular person.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I grew up in this field as it started with my dads company. Once I got old enough I branched out and created what is now one of the highest reputable landscaping companies around this area Smith Landscaping.
