FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rate is $60/hour First lesson is free to see if we are a match. I do not teach shorted lessons.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
CUSTOMER=STUDENT When I have a new student who has played I ask the student to play for me so I may evaluate what we need to work on. I also ask what the student would like to learn- a specific piece of music, a skill they would like to improve. Many students are shy to play or afraid to make mistakes in front of a new teacher. That is so normal. I am able to encourage a new student to play and improve their playing almost immediately. I'm really good at analyzing problems and finding solutions that fit each student.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching strings for 43 years. I have a bachelor and masters in music education and string pedagogy. Over the years I've developed a sense as to the correct guidance for each student. What I mean is: some students like to be pushed, some like to be encouraged, some like to not practice, some practice the wrong way, some need a visual example, some need aural, some students tire easily and some are easily distracted. Each student brings their own personality and I teach to that.
