For those of you who own a business, you know the importance of keeping your finances organized! When you have goals to shoot for the stars, you either go big or go home. In my small biz, I made the leap from ICs to employees in 2019, and with that, I hired the services of a "big chain" payroll and HR company. I got a bookkeeper and accountant as well; but it wasn't immediately upon opening the doors of my biz... this was 1.5 years into being open, so the financial mess was big and costly. I want to emphasize "big chain" when I speak of the previous company I worked with for payroll and bookkeeping. While I had good experiences with individual specialists on their team, I was overall just another number in their client pool. I wasn't necessarily treated as an individual business owner who had his industry-specific growth goals, questions, concerns, etc. The previous company was more so designed for business owners who work on a reactionary basis; and as a growth-oriented business owner, I came to learn that this isn't what I wanted. I don't live for the everyday demands of my business; I live for the future of it, and what it takes to grow a company of 1 to a company of 1,000. Enter Scott & Phillips Tax. I discovered S&P a few months ago now- coming from a place of feeling like I never knew how to interpret even a P&L statement! They are a locally-owned business (Worthington, OH- but they're willing to work with ANYONE remotely) that works to really treat their customers like the individuals they are! My initial convo with them answered all my concerns, especially my budget regarding how much I could afford to hire a company that helped with payroll, bookkeeping, etc. They not only put my concerns to rest, but they also made sure to never charge more than the set amount we initially discussed and agreed upon for me to use their services. Similarly, they could work 10 hrs over the budget max time, but still charge me for just the budget max time. MORE THAN fair. Very reasonably priced, especially for the amount of value you get from them. Great individual experience altogether! If you are in dire need of getting your books organized and just don't have the time to do it, it's time you OUTSOURCE and hire S&P. If you are searching for a payroll company who can complete payroll FOR YOU (with proper SOPs in place) and take care of all the taxes, it's time to OUTSOURCE and hire S&P. If you want to create and achieve financial goals for your biz, be able to finally understand and interpret P&L (and other similar) statements, and more, it's time to you contact S&P!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We generally like to have an in-person meeting or a phone/skype interview. During this meeting, we discuss the services needed and spell out the terms of our new engagement. Once this is completed we place a timeline together and move toward the next steps.

Ryan is a graduate of Wright State University. He has worked with several CPA firms in the Dayton and Columbus areas. He is an Enrolled Agent Candidate as well as a Quickbooks Proadvisor. He is an accounting business partner with Xero, Zoho, Sage, and Freshbooks.
