FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and 4+ years of hands-on experience in the field including both residential, restaurant, and hotel design.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My road to Interior Design is actually pretty comical. While I was growing up, like many others in Interior Design I watched much more HGTV than Disney. I would pull out all of the stuff to play barbies with my sisters and quickly lose interest after setting up all of the houses. However, since I was a little girl I always wanted to be a fighter pilot. That is why when I originally applied to college I chose Kent State University for their aviation program, but to my dismay it wasn’t an option in the drop down list of majors online. I figured that once I was accepted I would ask them if I could switch majors. Then the letter came in the mail stating that I was accepted specifically into the Interior Design program alongside a small number of people around the country. This seemed to be an honor so I figured I would try it out. That ended up being my fate as I met my very best friends and instantly fell in love with the program and bettering spaces for large numbers of people. Maybe one day I will chase down that pilot’s license, or design my own plane, but for now this is what I love!
