- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I customize my rates to the client and their specific needs. Typically my programs last for 3 to 12 months depending on how much change is needed and the client's specific needs. Special Pricing for the Mind-Body Makeover ranges from $300 per month to $1500 per month. Individual sessions are $75 each. I offer discounts based on the number of sessions purchased and the number of sessions per month. I want to see my clients succeed. If you have a goal to lose 40 or 50 pounds in a year, then you need to work out with me at least three times per week. Making big changes in your life requires commitment and desire. I will help you achieve your goals, but I can only help if you are doing the work.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The initial consultation is always free. I like to meet with you so that we can determine if we are a good fit. You want a trainer/coach who understands your needs and can create a program that will succeed. I want a client who is committed to their goal and will put in the work to see it achieved. I will be your biggest fan and cheerleader. I will help motivate you and encourage you when you are feeling low. But, as with any major life transformation, you need to be prepared to do the work. Here is an outline of the Mind-Body Makeover body transformation program: The Mind-Body Makeover is designed to achieve weight loss with several different approaches. Research shows that combining an exercise program with a balanced nutrition program delivers better results than either diet or exercise alone. Increased mindfulness combined with techniques to help you improve your physical and mental condition increase your odds of success. The Mind-Body Journal allows you to take a few minutes each day to focus your attention on your goals and the steps you have taken to achieve them. This process increases your overall sense of mindfulness about your health and will help you make more healthful choices. The workbook is also where you will find our weekly coaching agendas. By taking time each day to review your progress and document your activity you hold yourself accountable to your goals. When we talk in our coaching sessions, I will ask you about your progress which adds another layer of accountability. By being accountable to your goals, knowing that you will be measured and photographed, your daily awareness of how you can affect them improves. Finally, research has shown that self-hypnosis and meditation improve your odds of losing weight and keeping it off for the long term. This process re-writes some of your unconscious beliefs that may be preventing you from achieving your goals. 1) Assessment: We will record your body-fat and lean mass measurements. We will also determine any physical limitations you may have and decide how to work with/around them. I recommend taking a “Before” picture. 2) Personal Training Sessions. (12 or 24 total) You will receive 21 In-Studio Sessions lasting up to 1 hour. Sessions will be a combination of Resistance and Metabolic training. Plus, you will receive at least 3 In-Home Sessions to create and update your at home training program. 3) Nutrition: We will develop an evolving nutrition program that will make small changes intermittently. To keep track of your eating, we will use a commercially available diet app that can be installed on your cell phone. Each week we will substitute out different foods to keep your progress on track. I will come to your home and perform a “pantry purge” to identify all the foods that may be holding you back. I will help you with meal design and planning. 4) Coaching Sessions: Each week we will meet by Skype/FaceTime or another app to talk about your progress. We will use the Mind-Body workbook as the agenda for our conversations. 5) Accountability and Encouragement Sessions: Each week at our workout sessions we will perform weigh-ins and measurements. We will also take your picture to record your progress. I will also send you additional emails and text messages throughout the week to encourage you and help you stay on track. I will be your weight loss buddy for 90 days. You can call me, text me or email me any time with your questions or problems.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have written and published three books on diet, exercise, and nutrition. As a part of that process, I had to do a lot of research. That meant reading dozens of books and thousands of research abstracts and studies. I continue to keep up with the latest discoveries in exercise diet and nutrition. As a Health Coach, I am certified to help people with behavioral changes. In addition to my certification, I have read extensively on the topic. My Personal Training Certification is through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). The ACSM is the oldest and most widely recognized certifying organization. I am also a Weight Management Specialist. Overweight and obesity are the most important health issues facing Americans. Being overweight has been shown to be an underlying cause of many serious diseases. By specializing in weight management, I have positioned myself to be a valuable resource for my clients.
