I hired Chris to frame around some duct work, install drywall, and paint. The problems with this project were numerous. For starters, he took entirely too long to complete the job and I'm using the word "complete" very loosely here because he never really finished. At most, this should have taken maybe three days. It ended up taking him a week and when he claimed to be done, it was legitimately one of the worst jobs I’ve ever seen in my life. I say this as a Realtor and an investor who deals with contractors all the time and have personally hired more over the past couple of years than I care to count. For starters, he didn’t use 2x4s to do the framing. Instead, he attached plywood to the duct work using glue then fixed the drywall to that using screws that ended up penetrating the duct work. Worse, the corners weren’t even and neither the top or bottom where the drywall meets the ceiling and floor were finished. He just sprayed a bunch of foam around the very large and visible gaps and called it good. Thanks to Chris, I now have a very upset tenant that can’t use the house they're paying for until all of this is fixed and it's cleaned because the entire place is coated in drywall dust (he didn’t cover anything). Adding insult to injury, he texted me a few days later offering a discount if I hired him for another job. The lack of self-awareness on his part is truly something to behold. I’m a big believer in helping people improve, so my message to Chris would be to get some practice before charging people money to do subpar work. I think that had you spent even five minutes watching a YouTube video on how to do this, the end result would have been a lot better. Maybe even consider doing an apprenticeship with a more experienced contractor. Best of luck in the future. Update: Chris asked me to update this review to reflect that the tenant asked him to leave before he had the chance to finish cleaning up. While that is true, he doesn't seem to understand that the entire house would not need to be cleaned had he taken basic precautions like putting up plastic and using drop cloth to contain the dust. For clarity, quite literally EVERY surface in the house is covered in drywall dust. The floors, walls, appliances, cabinets, counters, tenant's personal belongings, etc. Moreover, I think he's missing the forest for the trees here. The dust is a non-issue compared to the overall shoddy work and doesn't change my dissatisfaction or rating.
