Jason is a Northern Virginia native and has been playing music since the age of 5. After several years of experimenting with a variety of instruments he discovered exactly what he had been looking for in drums. For 17 years, Jason has been playing drums, cultivating a variety of techniques and musical styles which he enjoys to pass onto others. His primary focus is to teach students of all ages to play drums expressively and passionately.
Over the past 11 years Jason has studied formally and worked with music groups over a wide span of genres including; Jazz, Funk Fusion, Hip-Hop, Punk Rock, Classic Rock, and World Music. Currently, Jason collaborates with many musical groups all over the US, embracing the diverse expressive possibilities of music.
Jason is a lifelong student of music. From studying Jazz Performance at George Mason University, to learning Funk Fusion styles from renown drummer Scotty Peaker, Jason focuses on growing his influences and understanding each day. Through his diverse studies and experiences as a touring drummer working with many groups at the same time —he is committed to pushing his understanding of the role of drumming within the musical fabric. Jason aspires to pass on this love of learning to his students in the form of mentorship and fostering a heartfelt lifelong love of music.
