Affairs of the Art

Hanging art is an art in and of itself. I take the time to understand my clients needs and wants first and then translate their vision to their walls. I have extensive experience hanging art in residential, corporate and gallery environments and accustomed to the intricacies of it. Trained by a team of Interior Designers I view your art as a part of the room as a whole and understand how placement helps define and compliment that space. In addition, by degree I am a fine artist, and illustrator. So aesthetic is just in my nature. Compound this experience with a 30 year tenure in custom picture framing and you're getting the right woman for the job. I am often asked "How do you even hang art?" This is a really good question and I feel it is worth sharing the answer. However, the answer is certainly not as simple as it seems. There are actually multiple considerations but in short the answer would be: It depends. It depends on several factors including but not limited to physical stability and aesthetic beauty. For physical stability one might consider: How big is the art? How heavy is the art? What type of hanging mechanism does the artwork have vs. (and even more importantly) What type of hanging mechanism SHOULD it have? What type of walls will it be hung on? plaster, drywall, brick, cinder block, masonry board? For aesthetic beauty and continuity of interior design one might consider: Where to hang?  What would be around it once its hung?  How high should it be hung? How tall are you? Ah yes, even this is a consideration. These are only a few facets of the art of hanging. For me the most satisfying part of my job is being able to do what I love for a living and seeing the look on my clients faces showing how happy they are with the end product.
