- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I list my fee as $125/hr because Thumbtack requires I give an hourly fee. But that's not really how I charge. For musicians - unlike say, plumbers - there is a lot of demand on some days compared to others. Weekend nights are big for entertainment. I charge more for Saturday nights (so do all other musicians). Mondays, not so much. Also, most of the work for me is getting to the place where I'll perform, setting up to play, tearing down afterwards, and going home. The rest is fun! Even if I'm only going to play for 15 minutes, I still have to do the work I'd have to do if I played 4 hours. So the length of time I play matters, but not as much as you'd think. My fees usually start at $400.
