FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing system is $25.00 per 45 minute lesson (recommended for 2nd grade and above) and $20.00 per 30 minute lesson (recommended for 1st or younger).I'm willing to offer discounts for siblings. Usually parents take care of lessons a month at a time. I'm totally flexible about rescheduling lessons and if we can't find a time to reschedule a missed lesson it just goes onto the next month. Although I do like the idea of a month in advance, I don't expect you to pay for lessons that don't happen!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer one get acquainted lesson free of charge so the student (and their parent/s) can get a feel for how we might work together and whether it's a comfortable, positive situation. Especially with younger children I strongly encourage parents to stay for the first few lessons so they can get ideas about how to encourage and help their child. (Actually parents are always welcome).
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started playing piano at 9 or 10, kept it up all the way through college, where I received a Bachelors in Education from Westminster College, where I majored in English and music. My emphasis there was on piano performance. I then landed in Spokane, Washington where I taught as an elementary music specialist in the public schools for 15+years. Loved it! Teaching the elementary aged students about music fundamentals plus helping them ENJOY music (not necessarily piano, but music in general) was wonderful.
