I hired Mr. Brian Frees to serve as federal counsel for my son in a federal case in Utah. Unfortunately, Mr. Frees did not file the necessary paperwork to establish his role as my son’s federal attorney, despite multiple requests and follow-ups. Both I and my son’s public defender attempted to prompt Mr. Frees to take the appropriate steps, but after two months without action, my son ultimately accepted a plea deal facilitated by his public defender. Following the plea, I continued reaching out to Mr. Frees, asking him to contact my son in federal prison to ensure that any warrants or issues were addressed prior to his release. Mr. Frees assured me several times that he would make contact, but even after a year, my son has not received any communication from him. Given the lack of follow-through despite payment for his services, I am now prepared to file a formal complaint with the bar association. I feel it is important to bring attention to Mr. Frees' unprofessional conduct in this matter.

Mr. Frees is very professional and effective. He quickly understood the details of the case, provided clear instruction, communicated clearly about various possible goals and strategies to fight my speeding ticket. He followed up promptly and patiently. I am very satisfied with the result, and I strongly recommend Mr. Frees if you need a lawyer for your traffic ticket. My case was that I got a speeding ticket when I was on a road trip in Delta, a small town very far away from my home. I was asked to show up in court a few weeks after the ticket. Mr. Frees represented me in court, he saved me from all the troubles.

Frees Law, P.L.L.C.'s reply
I am sorry you feel this way. As you know your case is still ongoing and I am doing my best to defend you the way you wanted. The issue in the beginning was that I was attempting to resolve an issue in your case and avoid you having the expense of traveling to court a long distance. I did everything i said I would do but could not get the Prosecutor/Court to agree and thus we had the Court appearance just recently. I felt as though you were satisfied with my representation while we were at court. I am committed to your case and helping you resolve this case. Please call anytime to discuss the status or if you have any questions. Again, I am sorry you feel this way and hope you have not lost confidence in me.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Typically - I discuss the case with a potential client over the phone or at my office. After the client has determined they would like to hire me I arrange a payment plan that works for both of us. I always want my clients to have the Attorney of their choosing and offer very flexible payment plans for that reason. After the client has signed the Retainer paperwork and payment has been received I start working on their case. Usually filing paperwork with the court and prosecutor to notify I am the attorney on the case and demand they turn over the discovery in the case.
