FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is competitive. Writing a book take skill and time. I offer a "first step" project priced at $500 to develop a detailed outline of the story you want told, then we work out a work schedule and a budget. This way, if you feel I am not the right person, or the story would be too difficult or costly, you have an outline to work from yourself, or you can find writing assistance with another consultant.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I usually suggest a two step process. First, we get a thorough understanding of your project and we develop an outline of the story you want told and how the plot should be developed. Second, we develop the outline and the plot. Finally, we look at the cost and the work schedule. You have no obligation to continue after that point, but you have material that you can use to proceed with your project if you choose.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a J.D. and passed the CA bar exam, so I am knowledgeable in writing mysteries and crime stories. I am a published author in the mystery genre and continue to work on sequels. I've studied the writing process extensively and understand a great deal about the construction of a novel and I use professional editing software for proofreading.
