FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $50/hour per student. However, for sessions that are outside of the weekly appointments (and are not rescheduled versions of such) and are merely one-time, as-needed meetings, the charge will be $60/hour. Fee: If I travel 30 miles or more, an additional $10 will be added to the charge. Discount: I offer a package of 5 1-hour sessions for $200 upfront for new clients or those returning after more than a year. Discount: If teaching more than one student at once, the price increases by 50% per student. Discount: If a current client forwards my information to a new potential customer and that person sets up an appointment, I will take 50% off the client's next appointment. Cancellation Policy: If a tutoring appointment is cancelled within 24 hours before the allotted time slot and not because of illness or emergency, a fee of 40% the cost of the session will be charged. If an appointment is scheduled and unattended, the full cost will be charged. Update as of August 2026: Like last year, I am not increasing my $50/hour price tag. However, I am slightly adjusting my cancellation policy. Thus far, it has been that if an appointment is cancelled within 24 hours not because of illness or emergency, a fee of 40% the cost of the session will be charged. This will still be the case, wit hthe addition that if a multi-hour session has been scheduled but within that 24-hour period it is cut down to a smaller amount of time, the fee will be applied to the cut hours.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I try to sit down with a student and analyze the gaps in their understanding. Often, if a student is struggling with a concept in school, they failed to learn another, more foundational, math topic before. I know how to identify and rectify these spaces. I expect my students to put forward their best efforts. If they do not practice and review their work individually, then the effectiveness of our appointments together will be diminished.
