This was the worst experience of my life dealing with a contractor. Ben poured my small patio in early July. I contacted him 20 days after he poured it as there was a crack that went all across the patio and I wanted him to look at it and repair it. He said he would stop by and seal it. He never showed up. I contacted him again less than two weeks later that the crack was getting wider and that there was another crack going all the way across the other way too. He said it was a concrete issue and it would take a while to get the concrete company to test it. I asked him to do something in the meantime. He did nothing. I contacted him again less than two weeks later that the concrete was now crumbling along the crack and I wanted a plan on what would be done. He said he was going out of for two weeks. My brother then contacted him and he finally came to take a look at it on 9.15 stating again he would seal it or replace it if it got worse in a year or “something.” When he didn’t send the written plan summary as I had asked, I had had enough. I told him I wanted it pulled out and removed and my money back so I could hire someone that could pour it appropriately. He said no. He’s not doing anything. He then told me it was my responsibility to pay for the concrete that he picked up because he “only pours it.” I didn’t hire the concrete maker, I hired him. That included supplies and labor. The concrete company told me they did not have me on file owing them anything and that it’s the responsibility of the individual that orders it and picks it up to pay for it. I have no idea if he did pay for it? Not only was this terrible, but he cut my Google fiber line, my sprinkler line and knocked a large whole in my garage excavating. I thought maybe it was just a bad day and paid to have it all repaired. That should have been a sure sign that Ben was not qualified to do the work. I have learned my lesson on being to kind. I love Thumbtack. I have hired qualified individuals from this site. Completely disappointed and sickened that I am out over 4K on a 196 sq ft patio on shoddy work from a dishonest contractor. So much for improving the value of my home. Divorced mom raising my son alone just trying to get ahead. A kind and understanding person and I got screwed. So sad!

Let's not axaggerate the situation, I have been responding to your texts with all your concern. Your not willing to be patient, what we dicuss was let the concrete company do their part. if they won't do anything i'll fix it. I mentioned concrete cracks all the time, if the crack goes beyond half inch and uneven. That's a bad conctete job, ill replace it. Your Pad has a hairline, to your Fiber was right on top of your Grass. How am i to dig out your Grass 6" with 2" roadbase? To you hole on the Wall, was 2" Hole. Which i said i can Fix it, but you said no leave it. Everthing process takes time, let Breakdown your work required: - Prep Grass Tearout - Skidsteer & trailer $500 - Grass haul & dump $300 - Roadbase Delivery $150 - Forms & Rebar $200 - Compacted $100 (Rental) - Concrete $850 (Shortload Fee) Pea-Gravel mix - Color & Stamp Rental $250 - Seal $200 - Concrete Buggy (Haul Concrete) $300 (Rental)

Price was very reasonable! They started on our project quickly, and worked with our schedule to have it finished in time for an event I had planned. Ben was very knowledgeable, and responsive to communication! And our concrete patio turned out just as I had envisioned, with a few minor adjustments that Ben recommended to make our life easier! It was just poured 6 days ago, but there have been no issues! Have already referred friends and family to them!
