I have been a professional for over 10 years in the area of ​​installing laminates, tiles, etc ... I like to deliver all my work with high quality, I feel sad when a project is not completed successfully, what in all these years, it never happened. Noah hired me and I fit him into my weekend because I didn't have availability for the next 40 days. An online quote was made within the customer's specifications, and I also gave a 200$ discount to the customer. When I personally went to see the environment, I noticed that the client did not give details of how was the uneven and old floor. I immediately informed the customer that the unevenness of the floor was too big and that the laminate would not be 100% perfect, I asked the customer if he still wanted me to start the work and he said yes. If I charged for proper preparation for this job, it would be at least $600, and I charged only $350. I initially had the idea that it would take 2 days for this service when I was hired online and spent 4 days working and I still had to hire an assistant to help me, as the floor was very old and uneven. All the time, the customer and his wife followed my service and never asked me to stop the installation due to poor service. On the last day I warned the client that as the floor was in a specific area it was very uneven compared to the other areas, I would need more days and I no longer had this availability, as this work would fit at the end of the week. The client then told me that he would try to fix the unveiling of this subfloor and that if he needed to, he would contact me again. I demonstrated the customer's willingness to help them in the next few days after 6 pm. As the project was 80% completed, I gave a discount of over 600$ to the client, for a total of 800$ of the discount. The client demonstrated that it understood that the initial approved estimate was different from the floor found and that a lot of effort was made to deliver a floor within an acceptable quality standard. The next day, the client sent me a message asking me to return 500$ of the amount that was paid, I explained to the client that this was totally unethical and that I could not do this, because I did much more than what was contracted, I spent 4 days of work and I paid an assistant to do that work as well. The client replied that he understood the justification and that I was right and that he no longer wanted me to return this amount, that everything is fine between us. I was startled by the 2-star customer rating, wanting to discredit me in the app. I'm very sad that the client acted this way, but I really know my value as a professional and that any other company would charge much more than I proposed, even knowing that the client's specifications were totally contrary to the environment found.
