Hello, my name is Eric Harmsen. I have been in the piano technology industry for 26 years now. I am passionate about the piano, and making pianos sound and play their best. I have experience in the piano technology industry and the music industry. My music is available to listen to on Spotify, Apple Music, CD Baby, YouTube, etc. My education and credentials are truly unique. I earned my Diploma in Advanced Piano Technology from North Bennet Street School in Boston, MA. This is one of the oldest schools in the United States, and the last Piano Technology School in existence. I studied piano tuning, rebuilding, regulation, etc. full-time for 2 years. While a student I was employed at the Mason and Hamlin Piano Factory in Haverhill, MA. I also earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Composition from the University of Utah, and my Master of Music Degree in Film Scoring from Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA. Eric was great! My piano hadn’t been well-tuned in a few years and Eric used his knowledge and expertise to get my baby grand back in to GREAT shape! He spent the time needed to get things right, shared awesome “helps” for maintaining good piano care & sound, and was priced so fairly! Eric is very friendly and kept in contact with me right from the appt. set-up. I would highly recommend his services and will definitely hire him again. 🎹

Super great guy, very personable and kind with my kids who liked to watch him. Very knowledgeable and showed me how things are supposed to work. Fixed a sticky key and tuned the piano well. Fun to hear him play some tunes!

Eric was awesome. Our piano was really out of tune and he spent the time necessary to both tune and pitch raise it. He explained what he did and why, and also explained what we could expect going forward. He also suggested that we should have other services done, and he wasn't pushy about getting those scheduled. All in all, A+ service and we'll be using him again.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Piano tuning: $160 Pitch Raise: $80 Action Regulation/Hammer Voicing $80 per hour.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We are usually introduced over the phone or the Internet, where I present myself and offer piano tuning services. When I meet a new customer in person. I introduce myself again and begin working on the piano. I ask the customer if there are any specific questions or concerns that they may have. If needed, I will provide the customer with additional information about their piano, and what can be done to improve it further. As always, the customer's satisfaction is of the highest priority.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Diploma in Advanced Piano Technology from North Bennet Street School, Boston, Massachusetts. Bachelor's Degree in Music Composition from the University of Utah.
