Hi, my name is Jennifer and I have been sewing for over 20 years! I am based in the St. Louis area. In 2021 I decided to turn my hobby into a full time freelance business, offering alterations, sewing lessons, and custom designs to residents of Houston Texas. Highlights included showing garments in two fashion shows, and creating a line for the fashion brand Shein! Passing on my skills to others through private lessons is also a huge achievement! I can tutor both younger and older students. I teach fundamental skills in hand sewing and machine sewing, and classes are customized to your learning goals. I have a diverse knowledge of sewing that I am happy to share with my students. My students appreciate my zen-like patience and how I focus on teaching the “why” of each technique. My skills include: - teaching basic and intermediate sewing - sewing commercial patterns - customization - alterations including womenswear, formal, bridal, and menswear - thrift flips - pattern design and drafting - technical fashion illustration (CAD sketch) - repairs - hand embroidery -embellishments I look forward to working with you!

Jenny's response to my proposed project was quick and considerate. Her quoted price was fair and affordable. We made arrangements for me to deliver my jacket - in need of a closure repair/replacement - when it was convenient for us both. Due to a lack of clarity on my part as to precisely what I needed done, the initial work required an adjustment, which took a little extra time that Jenny accomplished with alacrity and pleasantness. It would be difficult for me to imagine a more agreeable, complimentary or professional connection for what I needed. I offer Jenny my highest and unqualified recommendation for your sewing needs.

Jennifer responded within in thirty minutes of my initial message and we set an appointment within the hour. She is extremely knowledgeable and worked with my tight deadline. Jennifer explained exactly what she was going to do when I dropped off my dress. She had my bridesmaid dress hemmed in two days! I am thankful I chose Jennifer's services over any big corporation. I replaced a window and my custom roller shades no longer fit. Jennifer helped cut the fabric to fit and reseat on the roller, and now my neighbors can no longer watch me 😂 thank you!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Every tenth hour of sewing instruction is free of charge! A traveling fee of 50 cents per mile is charged for all mobile services. Cancellation policy: The lesson fee is nonrefundable if the appointment is cancelled the same day, and 50% refundable if cancelled one day prior. If cancelled two or more days prior to the appointment, the fee is refunded 100%.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I will contact you to set up a consultation call so that we can determine your level of sewing experience, learning goals, and lesson logistics. Lessons are paid for in advance. A lesson must be officially secured up to three days before the scheduled lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Countless hours of dedicated practice. I have been sewing for over 20 years, and currently design and draft my projects. I did freelance sewing work for almost 2 years, working with individuals as well as companies.
