FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, I would like to determine their immediate need. Is the student needing to fill in gaps in order to understand new material? Would it be best to work on homework, review notes, or prepare for an upcoming test? Parental input is helpful as well, but I really need to hear from the student what they hope to gather from our sessions.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
B.S. in Mathematics, M.S. in Secondary Education with an emphasis in mathematics, Texas Teacher Certification in Math for grades 8-12 10 years as a successful high school teacher building strong relationships with students along with 7 years of private tutoring. I have helped homeschool students with their math by creating a scope and sequence for their school year and have also taught/tutored them weekly as needed. I most recently worked with students at a local university model school who struggled with the limited instructional time at school.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I had a great math teacher my junior and senior years of high school who made math interesting and practical. I began tutoring students in high school who were at risk of not graduating without a math credit. From there, I got my degree in mathematics and my teaching certification and continued inspiring high school students after I graduated Magna Cum Laude.
