Mett with the potential client to get to them and find out what they need. Explain the process to them and keep them informed throughout the legal process.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
She began her legal career as a personal injury paralegal in 1998. While working as a paralegal for ten years, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of St. Thomas, (summa cum laude), a master’s degree in Humanities from the University of Houston-Clear Lake (Top Honors), and a juris doctorate from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law (summa cum laude). In law school she competed and placed in arbitration, oral argument, and moot court competitions. She was the president of the Hispanic Law Students Association and publicist of the Board of Advocates. She was awarded the American Jurisprudence award for achieving the highest grade and rank in her class in several subjects. She also interned for Judge Kenneth Hoyt of the Southern District of Texas and for the Immigration Legal Clinic. After earning her law degree, Alma began her professional career at the firm of Vela & Reed, PLLC in downtown Houston representing injured clients. Since 2009, Alma has represented people who are in need of someone with knowledge, experience, and compassion to help them navigate the complicated legal system.
