FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Custom cakes are priced per serving. You will find starting prices for cakes based on default options such as vanilla cake and standard buttercream frosting. Premium flavors, fillings, frostings and flair continue to increase the time and cost per serving. It is important to talk with your cake artist to ensure you understand the options to you if you are on a budget. Be honest and open about what you are able to spend and understand that this will limit your design.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We begin the design process with the number of servings, budget and theme for the event. A design mockup is submitted to the customer along with a quote. Often we provide different cost options to allow the customer to create something very unique. For weddings and large event celebrations we will arrange for a private cake tasting appointment to settle on the flavor profiles for the event. At this time a final contract is drawn up and a schedule is set for the cake. During the cake making process we share sneak peeks for the customer so that they can get a glimpse in the behind-the-scenes of the cake making process to keep them involved. The final reveal is sent and delivery is made. Afterwards there is always a follow-up with the customer to make sure that everything met with their satisfaction. All our designs are as unique as the people that we make them for and in this very highly personalized service we always make sure that the quality of the final product as well as keeping the customer engaged throughout helps to give reassurances that we have everything taken care of.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Cake artistry is a craft that is continuing to evolve. We dedicate time to perfecting techniques, writing industry related blogs and tutorials to help other artisans further their craft. This is an important part of our philosophy to share the love we have for the craft with others so that they may become better and delight their customers.
