Introduction

I am a eight time World Champion Country Western Dancer. I taught Physical Education for 32 years so I have experience teaching the physical skills of dancing to a variety of skill levels and ages. I also have been teaching dancing classrooms, a program that teaches 5th grade students ballroom dances during their PE classes. The past ten years I have been teaching a group west coast swing class on Monday nights and for the past two years a two step group class on Thursday evenings. I also have been coaching and teaching several competitors that dance in the country western arena. They include a youth student, age 13, and a platinum (over 70) student. Additionally I work with wedding couples (bride and groom, mother son and father daughter) preparing for the big day. I also teach private lessons to individuals and coupes interested in learning to dance and wanting to improve their dancing. I enjoy helping others acquire new dance steps for a variety of situations. It could be preparing for a wedding dance or just becoming confidant to go out social dancing. It is a joy to watch as that moment comes when it clicks and things just fall into place.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We meet and determine what the customer's needs are. Then I evaluate the skill levels and come up with a plan to advance the individuals skill level.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a masters degree in physical education so I am trained in evaluating physical skills and in ways to improve thoes skill levels. I continue to take private and group lessons myself to improve my own skill level. I compete in country western dancing to test myself and push to another level.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started competitive dancing in country western dance in 2008. I was introduced to dancing classrooms in 2011 and started teaching dance to 5th graders. I then got the opportunity to teach west coast swing in 2014. I have been really blessed to be able to share my love for dancing with others. As a PE teacher I enjoyed watching my students acquire skills every year and now that I am retired I can continue helping dancers do the same.
