FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Respectfully, try to avoid comparing mobile prices to salons or retail chains such as PetSmart. Costs to operate a luxury service on wheels is much different from stationary shops. Mobile grooming is not just a convenience, it is safer. Pet shops typically groom in an “assembly line” fashion: your pup is brushed out by one assistant, then passed down the line for a bath, then placed in a cage to dry so they can work on other pups that are scheduled for grooms that day. Drying can take up to an hour which means your pup is sitting alone during that time- possibly distressed or developing anxiety from hearing the noise and barking of other pets in the salon. Once dry, the groomer cuts and styles but in most cases, is on a time limit because they have several other dogs coming down the line. Usually, accidents in salons occur because they are overbooked and rushing to finish their work. Inside a mobile salon your pup is never left unattended because they are receiving one-on-one attention from start to finish. Not only is your pup relieved of a stressful and noisy environment, but they are not exposed to potential carriers of fleas, ticks, mites, and other pests looking for new hosts. Salons do not designate a specific day for flea and tick treatments. They will accept any groom on any day to maintain revenue. This means that another pet owner seeking pest treatment can bring their pup into the salon the same day your pup is scheduled for a groom. Based on the salon’s schedule, they may or may not properly clean and disinfect the cage before placing your pup in the same cage to dry after removing the infected dog. When requesting mobile grooming quotes, please keep all these things in mind. The cost covers convenience, peace of mind, reduced time away from your pup, undivided/one-on-one attention, keeping your pup in their home environment, and the ability to maintain operating expenses so we can continue bringing an entire salon to your driveway.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
After obtaining my Bachelors and Masters degree, I enrolled in Diamond Cut Dog Grooming School and trained under the McClain's, who have been in the grooming industry for more than 45 years. After graduating in 2016, I continued to work in their shop to gain additional hands-on experience and education. I have also worked as a groomer in a veterinarian clinic as well as a pet resort. I am an active member of a groomers association and constantly pursue training and workshops to obtain additional certifications and credentials. My long term goal is to be recognized as a Master Groomer and pass written and practical exams whose standards are based on the American Kennel Club’s standard of excellence. I am serious about continuing education and perfecting my craft.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
After working in the health industry for nearly a decade, I noticed my attitude changing about my career path. While I loved talking to the elderly about their life experiences, I felt more excitement going to the pet store and interacting with other owners and animals. After this realization, I made the decision to enter the pet industry.
