I took Spanish language lessons with Mike before a trip to Mexico City. Let me just start by saying that learning languages is not something my brain is set up to do; I've always found this extremely difficult and despite many attempts can't seem to retain anything of use. Mike took me at my own speed and created a curriculum that was suited to the conversations I would actually be having while in Mexico. He made engaging lesson plans for each class, and provided a written doc after each verbal session with the topics we covered which I found really helpful. Knowing we had a set phone time was motivating- I don't think I would have progressed without this structure. I worked with Mike for about 6 weeks and always looked forward to our weekly sessions; Mike's humor and obvious intuitive knowledge of conversational Spanish made each meeting feel like I was chatting with a friend. I'd absolutely recommend Mike as a teacher to anyone looking to make real progress with Spanish. Really wonderful teacher. Thanks Mike!

Mike was my Spanish tutor for about two years. I started off with very basic and awkward Spanish speaking skills, but with Mike's help I was able to elevate my Spanish to the point where I was comfortable speaking with just about anyone. I think that's the best one can hope for. Highly recommended!

Mike helped me so much! He was great at determining what I needed to get better at expressing myself in Spanish, and patient and encouraging in teaching me. I would recommend him as a teacher to anyone who wants Spanish lessons customized to their needs and level of fluency.

I highly recommend taking Spanish lessons from Mike. Thanks to him, my conversational skills and reading comprehension are at a level that I never thought was possible before. This has been a great help to me while traveling abroad and studying literature, not to mention all of the subtle ways in which it is now incorporated it into every aspect of my life. I’ve found the confidence to speak Spanish every time the opportunity arises. He’s a kind, patient and dedicated teacher. Five stars aren’t enough. Highly recommend.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Usually in our first meeting I will ask a good number of questions to get to know a potential student in terms what their goals are and what they need to achieve those goals without losing motivation. I also usually have an assignment ready that will help me gauge at what level the student is presently in terms of learning.
