Cody S. says, "We had drainage issues around our foundation for years. All In One came out and did an inspection and within 24 hours had an estimate sent with details of all the work that would be completed. Once we agreed on a date we were set. 12/02/24 They arrived early to their appointment time and got cracking. There were at least four employees onsite working on the project at a time and the work was done in one day. Concrete cut and removed, 60ft of drainage installed and connected to an existing French drain. We already had the first test run with all the rain on 12/07/24 & 12/08/24 and zero issues. Incredible service all around, Daniel and Zachary were great. Communication was top notch. Don’t hesitate to hire these guys. The job will get done!"See more

Heather M. says, "If you need Foundation Repair - I cannot recommend Firm Foundation Repair enough! Mason Birdwell and his crew did an AMAZING job! We reached out to several companies to do the repairs and the prices were about 16K to 20K+. We also got back so many different variations in what companies wanted to do - that we finally hired an Independent Engineer to do the Engineering Report and Drawings and decided to determine our bids on that singular report. We got in touch with James Mason Birdwell @ Firm Foundation Repair and he gave us a VERY competitive bid for 26 Exterior Piers, 9 Exterior Concrete Breakouts, 5 Interior Piers, Post-job Engineer Report, Post-job Plumbing Test, & Lifetime Transferable Warranty. He was also going to be able to come out during a timeframe that worked for us. (After the holidays). Per our contract - we decided to pay 1/2 up front and 1/2 after the work had been completed - which is fully paid). Also note he got the required permit through the City of Carrollton (which prior to being given my copy I was able to verify on https://cityserve.cityofcarrollton.com/CityViewPortal/License/Locator?fbclid=IwAR1ufx9NykPws_1AncyyFz7IH1nUUrwIjjTC-OkWD6-auAVMmcIKmp0l9RA (Lookup Firm Foundation)) so he is a registered contractor with the city as required. His crew came out on Jan 10th, 2022 at 9:00 AM and started the work. They were amazing and efficient. We only had two plumbing issues (ran us $450) and they were resolved quickly and to our satisfaction (we could have gotten a plumber or they would call one - we let them use who they were familiar with). They wrapped up the work on Wednesday January 12th, 2022 by 4:10 PM. You can see from the pictures they cleaned up EVERYTHING! They got rid of the excess dirt from all of the digging they had to do. IMO they left my yard looking BETTER than it did BEFORE they started. They also took care of filling in cracks we had/or occurred in our bricks and other outdoor areas. They do not have a lot of reviews and it almost scared me off. At the time I was researching them - I could only find 5 reviews and while it said Mason had a lot of experience - I could not find anything on him. After a *LOT* of digging I found the company he used to be with and when I researched them - I found a lot of glowing reviews on him and happiness with his work. I did not ask, but I assume he has decided to breakout and start his own company using his experience. If you have questions - I will do my best to try to answer them. I will absolutely refer them anywhere I can. If you use them, I just hope your experience is as fantastic as ours has been so far! If anything changes I will be sure to update my reviews, but I get the impression they are working hard to prove themselves to be formidable competition to other Foundation Repair companies and will do their best to ensure customer satisfaction. Thumbtack is making my photos sideways :( Not sure how to fix."See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do I find a good concrete contractor in Dallas?

Before you get in touch with a concrete contractor, you should think about your project and write down several questions to ask. This will help you get the most out of your consultation. It will also allow you to make a more informed decision about who to hire.

Then, start searching online to find qualified concrete contractors in the Dallas area. Review their profiles and pictures of past projects. Then, contact all of the professionals you’re considering to make sure they hold the proper insurance and a contractor’s license. Before you hire anyone, get free estimates from at least three contractors and compare prices.

What is the best sealer to use on concrete?

Because unsealed concrete is porous, it readily absorbs liquids, leading to unsightly stains and freeze-and-thaw cycle damage. For this reason, it’s important to seal concrete that will see spills or outdoor weather.

The best option for garage floors and other high-traffic areas is epoxy, which forms a hard and extremely durable surface on top of concrete. Epoxy, acrylic, and polishes are often used on indoor floors, while acrylic-resin sealers and reactive penetrating sealers are used on outdoor surfaces to repel water and salt. Locate a concrete contractor in your area to help find the best solution.

How much does it cost to redo a concrete driveway?

Here are some examples of average costs:

  • The national average cost to hire a concrete specialist is $2,750, but that price can vary greatly depending on the work needed to repair and resurface your concrete driveway, the square footage of the project, current costs of concrete, and regional labor rates.
  • Driveway contractors average $2-$3 per square foot to smooth and resurface your asphalt driveway.
  • Resurfacing concrete driveways averages $3-$10 per square foot. Pricing can depend on repairs needed, project size and geographic location.
  • Nationally, the average cost for resurfacing a 500-square-foot driveway ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.
  • Sealant for a concrete drive can cost $20-$80 per gallon.
  • Sealant for an asphalt drive averages 25 cents per square foot.

Is it better to stain or paint concrete?

A concrete paint cover is typically opaque and covers up the color of the concrete. This means it provides significant protection to the concrete below. However, if it is improperly applied or subjected to heavy traffic, a painted concrete floor is likely to chip and peel.

Epoxy and staining are two types of concrete floor sealer. Epoxy is a more durable but often more expensive option than a concrete stain. Epoxy forms a protective layer, while concrete stain is more decorative and requires more maintenance. Because epoxy can be more expensive than concrete stain, it is best used in high-traffic areas or in applications where low maintenance is desired.

A concrete stain, on the other hand, is quick to apply and can show off the textures of the concrete, but it does not provide a high degree of protection for the concrete against spills, salt, water and other contaminants. Staining concrete generally requires a dust mop, a pH-neutral cleaner and water to clean, while epoxy can cause resin buildup that necessitates the use of special detergents.

Find a concrete contractor near you for help selecting the right floor concrete sealer.

What can concrete contractors do?

Concrete contractors can build foundations, structures, driveways, concrete storm drains, raise or level concrete patios and much more. They can handle every step of the process, starting with framing the mold that the concrete is poured into. They then cut, assemble and tie together the rebar, giving the concrete its tensile strength. Finally, they pour the concrete in, mixing and conditioning it to ensure it cures properly. They will also take steps to ensure that no air pockets are trapped within it.

If you have a project that requires the help of a concrete contractor, reach out to one today to get a price estimate.

What is the best finish for concrete floors?

The best finish for concrete floors depends on your personal taste. An acid stain is a bold, varied look with lots of texture and the potential for earthy tones and a natural stone appearance. A water-based stain might not last as long as an acid stain, but it gives you the choice of many different colors. Epoxy is great for high-traffic areas, kitchens, bathrooms, basements and garages. It provides a glossy, damage-resistant, non-slip coating on your concrete floors. To find out which finish is the best for your concrete floors, contact a concrete contractor near you.
