FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
First and foremost, I don't think you have to be rich to get a quality product. Please let me know your budget so I can work with you! For many projects, I charge a full day rate. However, I do offer half day rates and, for some projects (typically weddings and events), I charge hourly. Thumbtack is a little limited in how we list rates, but typically it's common to charge a day rate for a shoot, then charge hourly for editing. Discounts: -Multi-project discount if you want to work on multiple projects together. -Photo and video bundle (if you request photo and video services, we offer a discount). -Services bundle (you get more of a discount if you request video, editing, and coloring, vs just video or just editing). Fees: -Depending on the scale of the project, a partial payment (Typically less than 35% of the total project cost) may be required by the time of shooting. The rest can be delivered upon project completion. -If you cancel within 48 hours of the production date, a Cancelation/Loss of Work fee is charged. If any work has been completed up to that point (for example, starting editing for a clip prior to shooting), this work must be paid for.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Often customers may not be sure or may not communicate exactly what they're looking for, so I try to start there. How long is the video, how many photos do you need, is there a source of inspiration or a look you like, etc. The more you can give me, the closer I can get to your vision and what makes you happy.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am largely self taught in all aspects. I have taken online courses on color grading, learning new software, etc., but most of my camera experience was learned by myself. The rest was learned working on set, in the departments I wanted to be a part of, from good people.
