If you are a driven executive leader or high performer, but are seeing addictive patterns relating to impulse control become more problematic, you may consider working with an ADHD & Impulse Control coach.
ADHD (diagnosed or not) and impulsive behavior stem from dopamine dysregulation. Whether you are medicated or not, you still need to create awareness of where your attention, focus, and, inherently, dopamine are going.
Addictive patterns arise from this dopamine dysregulation and stem from:
-Emotional escape or suppression
-Lack of objective reasoning about the behavior
-Pleasure seeking leading to dopamine disregulation
You can start by assessing where your biggest dopamine spikes are coming from:
-Impulsive eating
-Impulsive or extended social media & internet use
-Impulsive or excessive pornography & unwanted sexual behavior
-Alcohol
-Nicotine
You can then assess how well you are recovering your dopamine back to baseline:
-Consistent sleep
-Nutrient dense food intake
-Consistent exercise
-Intentional time with meaningful connection
