FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
JFi basically charges by the hour. We tailor our services to meet the needs of our clients... meaning we can provide turn-key design services to consulting and everything in between. We pass along our trade discounts to clients we purchase for and add our markup on top of that (not to exceed retail). The client never pays more than retail.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We offer a 1hr consultation at no charge. We ask that each potential client fills out our detailed design brief so we all begin on the same page. Our process depends on this document to determine our involvement level and your budget, along with what your tastes are and what you want to use of your existing furnishings. Below is our process for a remodel: BRIEF DEVELOPMENT The first phase of our design process is creating the design brief together. Knowing that every client is different, we tailor our services to fit your needs. Here we outline the main objectives of the project, establish design and construction timelines, and agree upon a budget. SCHEMATIC DESIGN Gathering and refining initial ideas to form a unique concept. Here we present you with preliminary plans and sketches to help communicate the design we have in mind. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT From our agreed upon schematic designs, we develop a plan to carry out your vision. This includes spatial planning as well as selecting fittings, finishes, and lighting. CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS At this point in the design process, we are collecting all of the documentation for pricing, certifications, approvals and construction. We develop our plan of action depending on how involved the process will be. TENDER J.Fisher Interiors tenders your project to builders and we handle negotiations on your behalf. During this process we adjust as necessary and are always looking to do the most with your budget. CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION During this phase of the design process, we work closely with the contractors to oversee the build process to ensure deadlines are being met to the specifications set forth in the brief as well as the budget. FF&E SELECTION This is where we finalize the details and select the textiles and furnishings for your newly constructed space. We love to mix your current favorite belongings with new purchases.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Once I gained enough project management skills from my years producing events for Fortune 500 companies, I was lucky enough be taken under the wing of Architectural Digest top 100 designer Waldo Fernandez. Then went on to work under AD100 member Madeline Stuart.
