- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
As a bartender and mixologist, my process for working with a new customer involves creating a positive and memorable experience while crafting and serving drinks. Here's a typical process I am following: Greeting and Building Rapport: Welcome the customer with a friendly and genuine greeting. A warm smile and eye contact go a long way in making them feel comfortable. Introduce yourself and inquire about their preferences. Ask if they have any favorite spirits, flavors, or specific cocktails in mind. Engaging in light conversation helps build rapport. Menu Presentation and Suggestions: Provide the drink menu and explain any specials or signature cocktails you offer. Offer personalized suggestions based on their preferences. For example, if they enjoy citrusy and refreshing drinks, recommend a mojito or a margarita. Listening and Customization: Pay close attention to the customer's preferences and any dietary restrictions or allergies they might have. If the customer is unsure about what they want, ask questions to narrow down their taste preferences. Do they prefer sweet or sour? Strong or light? Mixing and Crafting: Once the customer decides on a drink, begin crafting it with precision and care. Showcase your mixology skills by using quality ingredients and proper techniques, such as muddling, shaking, stirring, and garnishing. Engagement and Entertainment: If appropriate, engage the customer by explaining the history or interesting facts about the cocktail you're making. This can add an educational and entertaining element to their experience. Timely Service: Aim to serve the drink promptly without making the customer feel rushed. Efficient service is important, but so is allowing them to savor the experience. Presentation and Garnishing: Present the finished cocktail in an appealing and aesthetically pleasing manner. The visual aspect is a crucial part of the overall experience. Quality Check: Ensure the drink meets your high standards in terms of taste, presentation, and consistency. Follow-Up: After serving the drink, check in with the customer to see if they're enjoying it. This provides an opportunity to address any concerns or make adjustments if necessary. Payment and Farewell: Provide the bill and process payment in a seamless and professional manner. Thank the customer for choosing your establishment and express your hope to see them again. Clean-up and Preparation for the Next Customer: Clear the area, clean any used tools, and prepare for the next customer. A tidy and organized bar adds to the overall ambiance. My key is to create a personalized and enjoyable experience for each customer, making them feel valued and leaving them with a positive impression of your bartending skills and establishment.
