Detailed information on services I provide!
Basic Lesson Rundown:
1. Warm-ups: Each lesson begins with stretching, vocal warm-ups, scales, and extensive breath work to resolve any tension hindering vocal production.
2. Repertoire: In collaboration with the student, we work on repertoire that is both suited to their voice and challenging enough for growth.
3. Recording Lessons: I encourage students to record every lesson so they can review warm-ups and track vocal progress.
4. Lesson Review: After each lesson, I provide a written review, including:
Notated warm-ups, A "To Do" list for the week to ensure a structured practice routine
5. Practice Materials: I provide music and, if necessary, recordings of pieces for independent practice at home.
6. Vocal Exercises: After the introductory lesson, students receive access to over 15 vocal exercises I’ve recorded, along with detailed practice instructions.
7. Vocal Hygiene: I include a handout on how to care for the voice to promote healthy vocal habits.
8. Range Tracking: I track the vocal range, with most students showing an improvement of at least 4 notes (higher or lower) within the first month.
Individualized Approach: Every voice is unique, and I craft personalized lesson plans based on each student’s strengths and challenges.
9. The Joy of Singing: There’s nothing more fulfilling than witnessing the freedom and beauty of singing in my students, and I’m proud to guide people of all ages on this journey.
Singing, Auditioning and Resume Coaching:
I am highly skilled at guiding students toward local and national theater opportunities, having helped many performers land roles at prestigious venues like 5th Avenue Theater in Seattle, Village Theater, Nashville Repertory, Nashville Opera, and Seattle Opera. My students have also received Broadway auditions, participated in the "Rising Star" program at 5th Avenue, performed at McCaw Hall, and even competed in the Miss Washington Pageant, with some advancing to Miss America. I have also assisted students in securing acting roles in films, modeling gigs, and preparing for national and international tours as solo artists. Additionally, I’ve coached students for American Idol auditions, The Voice auditions, and local choir and chorus auditions, offering specialized coaching in sight-singing, repertoire selection, and language pronunciation. With my experience navigating the conservatory college system, professional theater circuits, and international performances (including choir work for video games), I provide expert guidance in resume building, repertoire, and audition preparation. Whether preparing for a local performance, national auditions, or international opportunities, I offer personalized coaching to help students succeed in their musical and performance goals
Theory/Song Writing techniques:
For some students, learning music theory is just as important as learning to sing. I enjoy teaching students of all ages how to read music, empowering them to become independent learners who can study and practice music on their own at home. I believe this is crucial for improving vocal skills. The faster a student can learn music, the more time we can dedicate to developing technique and enhancing vocal sound. I graduated from a prestigious conservatory, where I took advanced theory courses as part of my degree program. In addition to my vocal training, I played flute and oboe in orchestra for 10 years and taught myself to play piano. I’ve also had the pleasure of assisting students interested in songwriting, offering guidance on chord progressions and providing musical insight into their compositions. There’s something truly special about being part of the creative process of composing, and I love supporting my students who choose to explore this art form.
Speaking Lessons:
I have the privilege of working closely with the transgender community as a vocal coach, helping clients feminize their voices during their transition from male to female. It’s a deeply rewarding process, and I welcome anyone interested to reach out for support.
Additionally, I teach language diction classes and am fluent in the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) for English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish, all of which I have studied at the collegiate level and performed in professionally. I can assist with pronunciation in any of these languages, tailoring lessons to fit the individual needs of each student.
Mission Statement:
My mission is to empower students to unlock their true vocal potential through healthy singing practices, with a focus on breath control and vowel work. I am committed to helping each student develop their unique voice, fostering a passion for the music they love, and creating a supportive environment for them to perform confidently. Whether working on repertoire or preparing for collegiate-level pursuits, my goal is to guide students toward vocal mastery and artistic growth.
I believe that every student deserves to feel confident and capable when it comes to singing. One of the most fulfilling aspects of my work is helping students overcome performance anxiety, providing them with the tools and support to share their voice with others. Watching students grow from doubt to confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.
I take great pride in seeing my students achieve milestones they once thought impossible. For example, a student who struggled with pitch matching and performance anxiety overcame these challenges over the course of our lessons. After eight months of hard work, he was able to join a karaoke meetup and perform in front of an audience for the first time—a moment of personal triumph that was equally rewarding for both of us as teacher and student.
A Little About Me:
I received my B.A. in Vocal Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. As a classically trained singer, I firmly believe that a solid classical foundation in vocal technique can enhance and enrich any style of music. While my expertise is in classical singing, I enjoy exploring a variety of genres and believe that strong technical training supports versatility in all forms of music. My teaching is devoted to promoting healthy singing and unlocking each student’s true timbre through extensive breath and vowel work.
In addition to my work as a performer, I currently perform opera and musical theatre internationally. I am also a professor teaching voice at Belmont University, where I guide students in refining their vocal technique and preparing for success in their musical careers. Having graduated from a highly competitive institution, I understand the rigorous path to collegiate music programs and am equipped to help students navigate that journey.
