FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I will always try to work within your budget. Estimates are created by factoring in the size and texture of the surface and how long the project will take based on the amount of detail. Most projects fall in the range of $14-35 per square foot. My estimates include materials, however surfaces higher than 14' will require scaffolding or a rental lift that will add to the overall cost.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First I invite new customers to meet on site (or via phone call with lots of shared photos) to discuss the location, design, and motivation for their project. If you already have a design I may make suggestions on composition, scale, and color. If a design is needed I'll ask about the parameters of the customer's idea and create a custom design for their project. Once we have an agreed upon design I'll need access to the space where I will tape off any windows, edges, etc and draw out the design. *Walls that require excessive prep will be subject to an additional fee* I will give an estimate for how long the painting will take and check in should weather or any other factor present need for delay. During the painting process I invite feedback from the client with the understanding that final steps of the mural is usually where the magic happens.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received a BFA in visual arts with a concentration in painting from the University of North Carolina Asheville in 2010. While living in Seattle I worked with a local mural painting non-profit organization, Urban ArtWorks, for over two years on a wide range of public art projects.
