FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For simple recording projects an hourly rate applies. For editing and mixing I encourage the client to negotiate a flat rate that is fair regarding my time but also gives me the freedom to edit or mix with the desired outcome in mind, not the clock. I charge $50 an hour for my recording, editing and mixing services. For mastering I charge $50 per song. Full production rates are bid by the project, and are based on the time involved in pre-production, recording, mixing and post production. To book time on my schedule I require a two hour minimum with a 50% non-refundable retainer through PayPal or Venmo. This retainer is transferable (one time) if the booking is cancelled before the day of the session. Same day cancellations will result in the forfeiture of your retainer.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I first try to get a good picture of what the customer is trying to accomplish. Then I estimate how much time will be realistically be involved with the project. From there the workflow really depends on my involvement and what work is to be completed. For example, if I'm mixing a recording for a client and they have tracks that require little or no editing, I can give a good estimate as to how much time would be involved to mix the record. If it is a production or artist development project working from scratch, the work process will depend on the artist's level of skill and the budget available to complete the desired goal.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 25 years experience as a producer, engineer and songwriter. In addition, in 2015 I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Audio Production from Middle Tennessee State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a 3.96 GPA.
