Mark A. Christian is a leading Jazz and Brazilian guitarist in Nashville that would love to play your instrumental-music event with my Jazz group “Mark Christian Uptown” (MC Uptown; performs as a duo, trio, quartet, or quintet, depending on your needs and performance space), or my Latin/Brazilian group “Mark Christian Brazilian” (=MC Brazilian; duos to quintets). You always receive top-tier musicians!
My bass players have the ability to play upright (usually preferred) and/or electric bass. Duos often consist of guitar (archtop electric and/or Brazilian classical) and upright bass--an arrangement requiring little space.
I have performed in rock groups, big bands, symphonies, and in numerous local venues; I also play solo guitar.
Local venue performances include Rudy's; Casa de Montecristo; City Winery; Tennessee Brew Works; Nashville Jazz Workshop... A seasoned professional, I am friendly, energetic, genuinely interested in the welfare of my audiences, venues, their staff and audiences; and at private locations (home, apt., condo, gardens, and yards) where we perform.
We have compiled an extensive "book" of charts, covering the broadest selection of hip jazz--from the 30's to modern day--in town.
R & b, soul, "sweetheart music," pop, and selective country ballads/walzes may be interspersed upon request.
The Brazilian book is rapidly expanding as well.
Finally, we pride ourselves in reading audiences well and respecting their wishes!
Note: we offer primarily instrumental music. Addition of a vocalist is possible and will necessarily increase the cost of the performance.
