FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I want to know what musical styles/genres they want to hear from us; is there special music they want us to perform; do they prefer a mix of vocal and/or instrumental music, and obviously what are they willing to pay for our services. My wife and I play a variety of styles in various instruments; guitars, bass, banjo, mountain dulcimer, trumpet and piano. Once we have determined most of that and know how long we are needed to play, we can work out details for arrival, set up, and payment. My wife(Julie) and I(John) love what we do and love to perform, so, whatever we can do to assure a good performance and provide top quality entertainment, we will always strive to do.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have B.S. degree in Education from So.Illinois University, a M.M. In Music Composition from the University of Illinois, and, have taught guitar, bass, trumpet, at various music stores and in my home throughout my life. My wife(Julie) and I write, play and record music currently. I (John) have played w/ Alison Krauss, Vassar Clements, John McKuen(Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) and several other Americans, Bluegrass and Country acts.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
We started playing music together almost as soon as we met in 2000, merging and solidifying our love of musical performance after our marriage in 2004. We both have been lifetime musicians, playing a variety of instruments and coveting a wide range of genres: Bluegrass, Blues, Country, Acoustic Pop, swing, jazz, Beatles, Folk, & even occasional classical music.
