FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes, we do have a standard pricing system. Generally speaking, I break projects down into the component parts, and have a price unit of measurement [sq ft for tile, per sheet of drywall of installation and finishing, per sq ft for framing, per door for door hanging] or a price range based on the work to be done [such as in drywall patching, cabinet installation, fixture installation - bathrooms, etc].
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically, I contact the client to set up a meeting where we will discuss their project and their expectations. Based on my expertise, I will give them advice when they either ask for it, or when I sense they may need it. After going over the project scope, I will either calculate the price for them on the spot, or if there are variables [usually involving the cost of special fixtures - such as in bathroom remodels] I will send them the price in the form of a proposal by email. Regardless of when I give them a price, I always prepare a work proposal for them, and send it to the potential client by email. I ask them to return it to me signed, if they accept. If they decide not to accept it, it is always appreciated if they kindly let me know. If they accept the proposal, and return it to me, then we schedule a tentative start date. Down payments [and payments in general] can either be paid by check, cash, or credit card [we have a secure online portal]. The key thing about all our clients is that we do our best to always ensure that they are happy with our services. Even if the work doesn't come out "perfect", we care deeply that the client experience is one that they will remember, for good.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As the business owner, I have 12 years of experience as a home improvement contractor. While I have always emphasized high quality work, even more so I emphasize top notch customer service. I believe that the key to great customer service is communication - listening to the clients needs, concerns, and questions, while providing the best solution [even if it means referring the client to another professional]. My work related experience began in painting, proceeded to drywall patching, then to drywall installation/finishing and larger remodels [bathrooms, kitchens, apartments, etc] and their component parts. My painter has 20 years of experience, and has the skill to provide excellent paint finishes, an eye for detail, and a love of customer satisfaction. My electrician, who also assists me in other general tasks when needed, was certified in Michican as a union journeyman electrician, and is presently waiting for his electrical license in Tennessee [all tests have been passed, paperwork and monies submitted]. My drywall taper has 40 years of experience and it shows in his work. Beautiful drywall finishing, skim coating, and pleasant customer service experience.
