- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I love receiving new students! My process is to get to know the student to assess their unique learning techniques. I believe that the teacher-student bond is so special because it makes the teaching and learning process comfortable and fluid. Using this knowledge, I can tailor my lessons so that the student enjoys and feels engaged in every lesson. I begin by teaching some fundamental concepts of piano while also working on piano skills. Then we move on to working on songs that each student enjoy playing. As we work through songs and move to progressively harder pieces, we will cover more aspects of music theory and technique. Many students benefit from this teaching style because it allows “learning by doing” rather than purely theoretical lessons. Ultimately, my wish is for each student to express themselves freely through this art. This will require some theoretical training, but I find that it is most enjoyable to learn the sometimes boring theory by observing it in songs you love to listen to!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been studying Piano and Music Theory Fundamentals for the past few years and I have a small background in Violin as well.
