Very professional, friendly and did good work. Would’ve given them 5 stars, but they didn’t clean up the dust and debris after installing the TV’s. Happy with their service tho.

Concerns and Experiences with M1 Services By Janice Del Castillo As a senior resident of Greenville, I have had three unfortunate experiences with overcharging handymen, which has significantly impacted my financial situation. Recently, I hired M1 Services through Thumbtack to perform several tasks around my home. Despite requesting an estimate before commencing work, M1 Services began immediately without providing one. Initially, I was impressed, but their habitual tardiness raised concerns. It now seems they undertake handyman tasks after their primary HVAC jobs. Summary of Work Performed • The molding around the garage back door was replaced, and the door was adjusted. However, the seal remains inadequate, allowing paper to pass through the door jam. • Molding on a small chest freezer was replaced. • The bedroom door was replaced; the old door was removed, and the new door was painted and installed. Adjustments were required because the hinges were initially misplaced. • An attempt to fix a leaning toilet was unsuccessful. During this repair, the bidet's night light feature was incidentally activated. Additional Charges I was charged $150 for a brief inspection and Google search regarding the toilet light issue. This fee seems excessive considering the minimal time and effort involved. Concerns • The total cost of $743.88 for the services provided. • The $150 charge for a three-minute Google search. • The unresolved issue with the garage door seal. • The company's refusal to refund the $150 charge and their decision to place me on their do-not-service list. This unfortunate situation occurred during a particularly difficult time, as I was grieving the loss of my beloved husband of 52 years. My emotional state likely affected my decision-making. Despite my reluctance to post this review, I want to prevent other seniors from experiencing similar surprises regarding the cost and quality of services. However, we want to clarify a few points to ensure accuracy. 1. Pricing & Estimates: From the outset, we clearly communicated our hourly rate—both in writing on Thumbtack and verbally before work began. You agreed to this rate, and we reconfirmed it throughout the project. Although our rates increased during this period due to market demand, we honored your original, lower rate as a courtesy. Material costs were provided in itemized detail, and in the case of your freezer gasket, we secured it at a lower price than you would have paid on your own due to waived shipping costs. 2. Punctuality & Scheduling: We arrived on time or early for every visit. The only delay occurred when we discovered a misalignment in the hinge placement on your interior door. To correct this, we purchased a new door, re-cut the hinges, painted it, and allowed it to dry properly. You were not charged for the lost time, the replacement door, or any additional labor—only for the final installation and materials. We even reduced labor charges by an hour as a courtesy for the inconvenience. 3. Garage Door Seal: Upon completion, the door was installed correctly, inspected, and approved by you. If an issue has since developed, it was not present at the time of installation. 4. Toilet Inspection & $150 Charge: This charge was not for a "Google search." It covered our technician's labor in preparing the interior door for installation. The line item regarding the toilet was simply a note for our team to check the concern you mentioned, which we provided a solution for at no additional cost. Additionally, the issue with your bidet light was not something we caused but rather a low battery notification, which we diagnosed and informed you about, including how and where to replace the batteries. We have explained this multiple times via email, yet you continue to misrepresent it. 5. Total Cost & Payments: You reviewed, approved, and paid both invoices in full without dispute. Every charge was itemized to ensure full transparency. 6. "Do-Not-Service" List: This decision was not based on a single complaint but rather on continued post-service disputes that contradict the clear agreements made during the work. However, if you wish to continue working with us, we are open to reinstating you as a custom/premium client. Given the additional time and accommodations required for your projects, this would come with adjusted service rates to reflect the necessary level of attention. We take great pride in our professionalism and the quality of our work. It is unfortunate that this experience has resulted in an inaccurate review, but we remain committed to clear communication and fair service.
