FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We charge $50 for 60 minute lessons, and $30 for 30 minute lessons. For the little ones who haven't yet gotten to a real violin, lessons are $20 for as long as they can concentrate!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
With every new violin student, we begin on a box, to learn proper posture before we move on to the real instrument- both to reduce chance of harm to the instrument, and injury to the student. Then, we work our way through the Suzuki books, starting from Twinkle, until we get to Vivaldi. Then, we will branch off into more Galamian style studies, with more advanced etudes and concertos to develop the individual student. All throughout this process, our focus is on the development of a solid foundation of beautiful technique. With students who have played before, we start with an evaluation of their current technical abilities. From there, we create a custom lesson plan, so that we can help the child achieve what their individual goals are, and further advance their technique and repertoire.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Savannah, our violin teacher, has a Bachelor's of Music from the Petrie School of Music at Converse College, and is currently studying at the College of Charleston at their Artist Certificate in Performance Program, a post-baccalaureate study in violin performance, to further enhance her own abilities. Additionally, she is certified and trained as a Suzuki teacher through the SAA.
