Introduction

I am a native speaker of Italian. I was born in Breno (Brescia) and moved to the United States with my family when I was a teenager. I graduated from Georgetown University in Linguistics and worked in an Italian bank in NYC for 15 years. I then moved to PA when I married and worked for corporate 100 companies. I have done translations for the National Geographic Magazine and have worked on captioning an Italian Opera for PBS. I also taught an Italian language class in my development. I love to cook, teach and do all sorts of crafts, including crochet

I participated in group lessons that Lillian graciously gave in our neighborhood. She is a warm, compassionate and well-organized teacher. She began where the students were and integrated Italian culture with language lessons that would be useful for everyday conversations.

Being of Italian descent, I was always interested in learning about the Italian language. Lillian offered the opportunity to learn many words and phrases and their meanings. She provided the class with written materials including glossaries and translations along with situations on when to use certain phrases. Lillian's presentation was very clear, professional and even provided a bit of humor. I learned a lot from Lillian, and I'm sure she would be an asset to your organization

In order to be effective, I like to recommend lessons twice a week in sessions of 90 minutes.

Open discussion to understand the challenges the student faces in learning a new language
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have tutored while I was in college and resumed tutoring several years ago when I taught a group of 15 adults. I recently tutored an older adult one-on-one. I prefer to tutor face to face. I think it is much more effective.
