FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
A lot of different variables go into pricing a photography assignment and it is not fair to the client or the photographer to start the conversation naming a "day rate." Some of the variables that affect cost have to do with the number of images needed, the complexity of the shots, if an assistant (or multiple) assistants are required, and how the client plans to use the images. I always try to set up at least a quick phone call with a new client to discuss their needs and how I can help them.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
With a new client I always like to start by chatting over the phone to learn as much as possible about what their needs are as well as how they plan to use the images. After the initial discussion I can provide them with an estimate and sometimes it makes sense to schedule a face to face meeting. Having as much information about the project at front as possible allows me to completely plan and bring all the resources I need on the day of the shoot. This previous preparation helps ensure that things go smoothly during the shoot and that we accomplish all the client's goals.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor's degree in photography from the Art Institute of Photography as well as having 15 years of experience working in the field.
