Introduction
I separate myself from many other guitar teachers because I believe I am very patient and thorough with every one of my students. I also have a wide variety of experiences playing many different types of music and I've been teaching for 27 years. I can adjust my teaching style to the beginner to the most advanced students. I also hold on to students for many years, sometimes as long as 10+ years. I love to see the progress my students undergo throughout their time with me. It's great to see them get excited playing a piece of music they have spent many weeks learning.

I am 57 years old and one would think at this point despite my unconditional love for music, I would probably just sit back and realize that I will probably never ever be a musician. In the last two or three months since Todd visited my house and sat down at the (Piano) with me I realize that giving up on such a beautiful hobby would be a mistake even at my age. He not only simplifies as a teacher, but he make sure that you’re learning it correctly. I think too many people lose patience with learning how to play an instrument because they don’t wanna go through the necessary motions to learn them Properly And you don’t get any of that with Todd. He’s patient, professional, and you can just tell his love of music by the way he teaches. In the last three months he’s opened up my eyes to a world that I always knew was there but never really understood in the way that I do now. And I’m only just beginning. I look forward to be on this journey with Todd and recommend him to anyone.

Learning to play the guitar with Todd has been the most delightful experience. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the instrument and is a great story teller, taking time to teach you about the different artists, techniques and how music has evolved over time. Todd's lessons include a great balance of theory and practical application, touching both the art and science behind the music. As a working professional, I really value the time that I can invest in my personal development and my guitar lessons with Todd are without question the best investment that I could have made. I am grateful!

My 5 year old daughter took guitar lessons with Todd and she had a wonderful experience. He was patient and enthusiastic. He kept the lessons appropriately basic for her level, but she always left feeling proud of what she learned and was able to practice during the week and show us what she had done in class. We will continue taking lessons with Todd and we look forward to learning more!

Our young daughter has had 2 lessons so far with Todd. I was sitting in on one of them and found that Todd is very, very patient and kind! It's hard to teach a four and a half year old an instrument, we'll try for a month or two and see where she's at then. But I'm confident she'll soon start to enjoy the lessons with Todd!

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have taken lessons personally from guitar instructors for about 7 or 8 years. I continue to learn by talking to other professional musicians and teachers that may have specialized knowledge that I currently do not have.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I got started out in college, giving lessons to children and adults back in the mid 1990's. I have always had a passion for music and have been in various musical projects since the late 1980's. Even though I worked other types of jobs over the years, I continued to teach guitar because I felt I could pass on my knowledge of music and guitar techniques to others. It is always a great feeling to reconnect with students that I have taught over the years. Some have even asked me to see them perform music at local venues!

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with students of all ages. I can work with a 4 or 5 year old, teaching him/her basic chords, notes, and nursery rhyme songs. Adults or teenagers are also a large part of my student base. Many of them want to learn their favorite tunes along with soloing techniques, music reading, and music theory fundamentals.
