FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our prices vary (we know that may be frustrating!), but think of it like this. If you went into a restaurant and had hundreds of foods to choose from, from all over the world that were not yet made, how would you price a very specific dish that had not been designed and made? That is what it is like with wood! Some wood is quite expensive, others woods are very economical. But, then depending on complexity of a project, the size and the scope of it can change a price too. If you have a budget, that helps us very much and we can begin working towards a goal/design/ product and you can soon have what you came looking for! So in summary, it depends on wood, design, hardware, scope of project ect., but whatever it is we can help find the sweet-spot on what you want to spend. We have a three-tiered design/build approach. Basic: inexpensive wood and simple joinery; middle of the road; better wood and more involved joinery; top-notch; high end joinery and expensive wood.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We access what it is you want/need made. We tell you whether or not we can do it (most of the time we do it!). We ask for pictures of what you want made (drawings are extra and can be credited to your final invoice). We send you an invoice, which you can then pay directly online! We give you a timeline on when it will be done. We may send you samples of wood. We make it for you. Then we deliver it/install/ship it!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We have extensive real world experience that shows in our projects, having been fortunate to have worked along side carpenters of many walks of life. We have been a part of a timberframing project with the founder of Heartwood Timber Framing School in Massachusetts having done a Sawmill Restoration project with the Timberframers Guild. We have over a decade experience making, designing custom wood products.
