Introduction
Home Inspections - Radon Testing - Pest Inspections - Sewer Camera Inspections - Mold Testing and Inspections MEET YOUR INSPECTOR Jason Barber I am an InterNACHI® Certified Home Inspector. I have been performing inspections for many years in our neighborhood. I would be honored to inspect your home. I am a Certified Professional Inspector CPI®. InterNACHI® Certified I am a member of InterNACHI®, an InterNACHI® Certified Home Inspector, and a Certified Professional Inspector CPI®. I am a graduate of InterNACHI® School (internachi.edu) with a Certified Home Inspector Certificate. I am also a graduate of the HomeSpection® Training Institute. My Inspection Services Home Inspection: A home is probably the biggest purchase you’ll ever make, so it’s important to understand the condition of your investment. I’ll provide a non-invasive evaluation of the home’s accessible structure, systems and components. While a home inspection can’t reveal every concern that exists, it will significantly reduce your anxiety by arming you with the knowledge you need to make an informed home-buying decision. Wood-Destroying (Termite): Wood-destroying insects can cause serious damage to the wooden structural components of a house. They can hide and go undetected for a long time, but there are many telltale signs for different species that indicate their presence. I’ll inspect your home for evidence of infestation now before it becomes an expensive problem later. Radon Gas Testing: Although radon is a naturally occurring gas in our environment, it's also the second leading cause of lung cancer deaths in the U.S., according to the Surgeon General. One out of 15 homes is estimated to have dangerously elevated radon levels. The Surgeon General and the Environmental Protection Agency recommend testing all houses. Millions of Americans have had their homes tested for radon, and you should, too. Sewer Camera Inspection: Our video inspection technology is incredibly valuable to homeowners and home buyers. We can very easily assess the health of a home, apartment, or business's sewer system. Make our video inspection service a part of your home inspection. I Use Infrared At Every Inspection. I SEE THINGS THAT OTHER INSPECTORS CAN'T. MY PROMISE TO YOU Choosing the right home inspector can be difficult. Unlike most professionals you hire, you probably won't meet me until our appointment. Furthermore, different inspectors have varying qualifications, equipment, experience, reporting methods, and pricing. Ultimately, a thorough home inspection depends heavily on the individual inspector’s own effort. If you honor me by permitting me to inspect your new home, I guarantee that I will give you my very best effort. This, I promise you.

Jason came to our house two weeks ago to spec out our flooring job. We explained to Jason that we had a certain time frame to get our floors refinished because we wanted to get them done while we were out of town. Jason agreed to the time frame, and stated that he would be more than happy to work on the job while we were out of town. I explained to Jason that I had an extended business trip, but my wife and 15 month old would stay with our grandparents to allow him to do his job. Jason even stated that he his tools had an exhaust system and said, "you won't be cleaning dust for a week when you get back." We hired Jason through Thumbtack. This morning, was the morning Jason was supposed to start the job. I am currently in a different timezone, so I received the attached message at 9:05am Jason's time. Essentially, he stated in the message that he waited until 8:30 am at my residence, but nobody was there to let him in and asked if I needed to reschedule. I immediately called Jason and reminded him that we were going to be out of town, and that the door is open for him to start the job. Jason's response was, "Well, I went back to the office and booked someone else for the day, so I'm going to have to reschedule you, bud." Given the fact that my wife and 15 month old made arrangements to stay elsewhere to allow Jason to get his work done, I informed him of my displeasure, and, as a client, I needed the job done in the agreed upon time frame. Jason stated that I only wanted to "argue" with him and that "he doesn't take this from anybody." I again reminded Jason that I was not "arguing", I was a client with a problem asking his contractor to solve said problem. Jason would have none of that, and stated he was "thinking of coming back to do the job but now doesn't know what I want to do." I AGAIN asked Jason if he was going to return to complete the job as contracted and he replied, "I don't know, you tell me." I work with construction professionals on a daily basis. I have never known a professional to simply go home before contacting the customer when they can't gain access to a job site. To leave, cancel the job and refuse to return without even contacting the customer while on site is absolutely outrageous. Likewise, for a professional to accuse the client of "arguing" with them when the client attempts to address an issue such as the aforementioned means they are not a professional at all. My wife then contacted Jason to ask where the miscommunication could have occurred, as she was present when we explained to Jason that nobody would be at the residence. She explained to Jason that he significantly inconvenienced our family with a 15 month old child and Jason hung up on her. I was frankly astonished by Jason's behavior. He walked out on a contracted job, then accused the clients of "arguing" with him because they required to have the work completed in the agreed upon time frame. It should not be a surprise that this is unacceptable behavior, and to respond, "I don't take this from anybody" when the client requests the professional to complete the job, is nothing short of blind ego. I have absolutely no faith that Jason would have ensured the flooring would have been completed in an acceptable manner. In my experience, contractors work for themselves for two reasons: 1) They are extremely shrewd business people and have an endless entrepreneurial drive to succeed, or 2) They are otherwise unemployable. I can hear this conversation in the past between Jason and his prior bosses: Boss: "Jason, I can't allow you to just walk off the job site when a challenge presents itself, and I need you to be more organized and remember what a client tells you prior to completing a job." Jason: "Well, I don't take this from anybody!" I have hired several individuals from Thumbtack, and those individuals all would undoubtedly give great reviews. I understand construction, and I understand how to treat people, but for my money, I can't hear, "I'll just have to get you another day, bud."
