Don’t bother with this company. Untimely communications. Not willing to travel and will sell your wedding date to someone else who’s closer to home. I contacted Joe from Big Island Productions via the Thumbtack App. He was extremely responsive... at first. The first phone call went off without a hitch and subsequent emails were fairly quick too. We were trying to figure out a day to meet and were going back and forth for a bit about the time and place. Then he stopped responding for long periods of time to emails and I would have to email him twice in a row to get a response. Time stretched on and one time I had to wait for him for two weeks to respond. Despite the untimeliness, we finally figured out a date and a time to meet at the venue, which was located in between both of us, and when I emailed him to confirm the time, he asked me the date of the wedding again. When I responded, he told me that he had gotten a deposit from someone that very day for my wedding date and that the couple was “local and recommended by a friend”. I put a lot of work into finding a date and time that worked for both of us and was pretty set on hiring the company, despite the poor communication, only to be told that I would have to try to find someone else now because he was able to meet someone local. This not only has put me behind in scheduling a DJ, but was also a punch in the face based on the amount of time that I had dedicated to this particular company while trying to schedule a meeting between the two of us. If you want to have your time treated like filth, then by all means, hire this company. As a bride-to-be, I know that time is already at a premium for all of you, so avoid the insult and hire someone else.

Unfortunately, this potential customer waited too long to attempt to meet with me or sign a contract and pay a deposit and wrote a nasty review because another couple booked her wedding date before her. She canceled on our first meeting and then waited two weeks to contact us. We don't harass potential customers to sign a contract and pay a deposit so another wedding couple wanted to book the same wedding date. They paid the deposit and booked the date.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There are no hidden fees. We do offer discounts for Friday and Sunday weddings. We also offer discounts for Monday thru Thursday events.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We like to meet our potential customers in-person for a consultation.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Music education starting in 1995 including music theory, music production and live performances.
