I contracted David to repair some siding on my house that was rotting. The goal was to remove the rott and prevent further damage until I am able to replace the siding in a few years. David was extremely communicative. He explained the work he planned to do and why and kept me informed at important steps along the way. He used high quality materials and took time to seal gaps in the siding to prevent water damage occurring in new locations.

Details: Water damage • Large cracks or holes • Mold or mildew • Minor, cosmetic damage only • Fiber cement • Home

We had two projects, a new fence that needed to be stained and a small hole along some degraded trim high up on the side of our house. David was very responsive and came out to inspect the jobs right away. Compared to others who looked at the job, his assessment of the situation and explanation of his recommended approach was much more thorough, and his bid was very reasonable. When it was time to do the job, David worked through some complications related to weather and availability of some materials (e.g. he had to fabricate some special trim pieces that couldn't be purchased) without adding additional charges. The work was done as scheduled and we are very happy with the results. We will definitely consider using them again for our next painting and siding project.

Details: Wood • 6 feet or less • 100 - 200 feet • First-time painting on raw surface • Unfinished • Yes, I will supply the paint to the professional • Residential

David was very responsive to our request, thorough in his evaluation of our needs, and clear in his explanation of what he’d do to paint our deck. I really appreciated him sharing his knowledge. He and his team were professional, courteous, and punctual. I feel that they went above and beyond to produce a high quality result. I absolutely recommend Chameleon’s services and will use them again and the future.

*Short version: He and his crew were professional, responsive to all my questions, always respectful, here on time, kept me informed and the price was fair. The work looked great and there was ZERO mess left behind. I plan to bring him back in late spring to pressure wash and repaint the rest of my house. So yes, I'd hire him and his crew again and I recommend them highly. *The long version, with details, if you're interested: David responded to my inquiry quickly and set an appt right away. He came the next day and looked at the wall I was concerned about, and told me he thought that it could be patched and last another 3-4 years of that's what I wanted. I received his estimate within 24 hours, and let him know I was waiting for a 2nd contractor to come 2 days later, then I would let him know my decision. The other contractor was delayed, so I looked at David's estimate again. I then asked him what the difference would be to replace the wall siding now instead of paying to patch it, only to re-do it 3 or 4 years from now. He set an appt to come back so we could discuss my questions about the differences, then provided me a 2nd estimate for full replacement a couple days later on a Friday. I let David know on Monday that I'd like to hire him and proceed with the full replacement of the wall siding. Sadly, at that point we lost the last reliable period of dry weather - this is Oregon after all. We agreed he'd monitor the weather and let me know when he thought would be a good day to start. The following week he saw a stretch of 3 days that were forecasted to be dry, and set that Wed as the start date with 3 days planned to complete the project. The day before they planned to start, the forecast changed for Thursday, so they had to wait till Friday to start and planned to work Saturday as well. He said they'd make sure the house was water-tight before the rain came back, but might have to delay painting. The next day he said he wanted to show me a different type of siding than the T1-11 we'd originally discussed. The alternative was visually similar, but came already primed from the factory. That way if the weather changed mid project, there wouldn't be an issue if the siding got wet because being pre-primed would protect it, the insulation, etc. It was more expensive, but he said he would absorb the difference and not change the price we'd agreed on. He felt it would be good "insurance" to use it, given the quick changing weather we have this time of year. I approved the change to that product, signed the contract and gave him the 40% deposit. He started Friday as promised, and that day they were able to set up, take down the security camera, etc., remove the old siding, put up the house wrap over the entire open area, and installed the siding over the main body of the house to help reduce heat loss. They cleaned up most everything and covered anything left with a tarp for use the next day. He even re-connected the satellite wiring each day when they were finished. I'm so glad he suggested changing the siding because the next morning it rained, then again that afternoon. But David and his crew showed up and finished the siding itself so the house was sealed up tight. The plan was for them to return to paint and do any finishing touches when the weather allowed. They came back the following Thursday and finished everything else that day. He even decided to get a more expensive paint that could dry safe for rain in less than an hour, again for his peace of mind - no charge to me. I think this is probably the most secure and protected wall on my house! They put the downspouts back, reinstalled the security camera, and re-hung the satellite dish wiring neatly along a seam edge. They also caulked all my windows that weren't sealed properly, and repaired a piece of trim I had torn a chunk off the bottom of by the front door, while I was doing other repairs over the summer (gotta love manufactured homes) - and they did it with bondo! I had no idea you could do that, but I trusted his judgment. You can't even tell it was damaged! They were also very careful not to get paint on the astro-turf that is right up against the sliding on the wall they worked on. When they left, I think my backyard was honestly cleaner than it was when they got here. 🙂👍 I plan to have him and his crew back early next summer to pressure wash and repaint the rest of the house, as the paint that was put on 6 years ago by a neighborhood handyman is already cracking, even though I went back over it again later in the year it was originally done. David looked it over and felt that the house would be ok through the winter, but agreed it should definitely be redone next summer. So yeah, I definitely recommend Chameleon Painting & Siding. David and his crew will do a great job and treat you right! (These 3 are "before" pics. You can see where I tried to match and patch the paint before, my attempt to caulk the siding joints that's already cracking and splitting, and how the trim was pulling away from the house due to water damage. I'll try to add some "after" pics tomorrow - I didn't get a chance to take any this afternoon before dark.)
