FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard rate is $30 for a 30 minute lesson, and $60 for an hour long lesson, although I do offer sliding scale on a case by case basis. I ask that payments be made at the beginning of the month, and 24 hour notice is given for cancellations. My first lesson is always free!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
At first I will ask the student or their parent to answer some basic questions for me via email, so we can save time during our first lesson. During the initial lesson, I like to get a sense of the student's current goals and ability. From there, we can decide on a plan of action and get started on our first lesson projects! During this time, I coordinate virtual recitals so the student can always have a performance to be working towards.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching lessons since 2010, working extensively with young beginners and intermediate players. I have taught at the Santa Barbara Academy of Rock, Jensen's Music, The LOUD Program, and Goleta Valley Junior High in Santa Barbara, California. In Portland, I have taught at 4/4 School of Music, as well as many private in home lessons. I have an Associate's in Music from Santa Barbara City College, and a Bachelors of Science in Arts & Letters from Portland State University with a focus in Music and Philosophy. After graduating from PSU, I have spent the last 3 years doing intensive Jazz studies at the Alan Jones Academy of Music. I perform regularly in a variety of Jazz and Rock settings around Portland, Oregon.
